Chicken Rice Top on the Must Do list

Took the kids for a trip down memory lane. Went walking down the river with Jenella towards Great World City.

Started with Chicken Rice at the Food Court in the basement of Great World City (first meal they ever had in Singapore was here exactly 7 years ago).
Then we walked over to their old school and pursuaded the summer staff to give us a tour of the grounds. They ran around the basketball court, checked out the cafeteria and the auditorium, while learning that all their favorites teachers are long gone. On to other ex-pat international school assignments.

Proceeded from there down to Orchard Road, where I was looking for the latest Catherine Lim book at Borders, and the rest of the gang was starting to wilt and seek frozen coffee drinks at Starbucks.

After swimming in the pool at the Smiths condo, we're refreshed and ready to go out for Indian food. I'm trying to pursuade Kip to make me a G&T to start building up my quinine levels, but he's worried I'll fall asleep in my curry.
First day impressions: just when you thought Singapore was completely built up and there was no more space, they have started a gazillion new construction projects. It's less humid that we remembered (must be easier coming here from Houston summer) and the food is just as fantastic as ever.
Recognize the Marriott @ Orchard & Scott?

Martin tells me not to spend the whole trip blogging, so must be off to take a sip of the G&T. When we leave Singapore, access to computers is going to drop off dramatically.

Ubiquitous Starbucks! Treated myself to a cappucino in the Honolulu airport Starbucks yesterday after a long flight from Houston - 90 minutes spent on the tarmac waiting for the thunderstorm to pass over us! The rest of the 8 hours passed smoothly with movies, games, reading and eating -- all sitting next to an antsy 9 year old wanting to know when were we arriving.
